Silka Cheras and other branches of Silka Hotels Malaysia are having a sumptuous spread of culinary delights this Ramadhan with ‘Juadah Silka buffet dinner‘. From 17 May until mid-June 2018, urbanites seeking a taste of traditional kampung-style Malay cuisine need not look further, as they will be spoilt for choice at Silka Maytower Kuala Lumpur, Silka Cheras Kuala Lumpur, and Silka Johor Bahru.

Over at Silka Cheras Kuala Lumpur, diners will tuck into a scrumptious feast featuring all-time favorites such as Ikan Bakar Daun Pisang, Ketam Masak Lemak, Udang Masak Sambal Petai, Daging Masak Hitam, and more. Not to be missed is the carving station featuring the mouth-watering Roasted Lamb and Nasi Biryani with Vegetable Curry and Acar Timun.

Silka Cheras Hotel is in Cheras and conveniently located next to Cheras Sentral which is also connected to the Taman Connaught MRT Station. The hotel is also accessible from the mall. The bridge to the MRT station connects to one of the floors. I can’t remember which, though. Probably 2nd? 3rd?

This Ramadhan, Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar is hosting again a feast of local and international cuisine especially for its Ramadhan buffet they named “Sajian Selera Desa Dinner Buffet” at LINK – All Day Dining Restaurant.

This year, Executive Chef Juzaili will be featuring one of his specialties; a whole lamb marinated in a secret blend of spices and roasted to golden perfection. Last year’s crowd favorite, the Oxtail Gear Box Soup will also make a comeback due to popular demand.

Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar is located in the city center of Bangsar and it’s just a few minutes away from Midvalley Mall. The nearest LRT would be the Universiti station that’s within walking distance.

Having said that, I didn’t exactly have the easiest time to navigate around. I actually got lost and was one and a half hours late to the place.  Meant to take the LRT because I was already nearby at Midvalley but since I was offered a ride, I thought why not? A car might be faster and easier, I thought.

TPC Kuala Lumpur (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club) is strategically located in the lush hilltop setting of Bukit Kiara just 8 KM from the capital city. TPC Kuala Lumpur is a 36-hole tournament-standard course. Its proprietor Sime Darby Property designed the club as an elegant and relaxing golf haven surrounded by perfectly manicured greenery.

This year, TPC Kuala Lumpur aims to raise at least RM10,000 with its Selera Muhibbah al-fresco buffet dinner that takes place around its Olympic-sized swimming pool. For every buffet voucher sold, RM1 will be contributed to underprivileged homes. There are a total of 22 stalls along the poolside plus an entertaining live band to serenade diners.

It’s not hard to find the way to the place but it could get a bit confusing with the roads to get to the exact location of the restaurant. But the most interesting experience would be riding this buggy from where we parked our car to the restaurant instead of walking.

It was my first time so it was really exciting. It’s not something you get to experience on a daily basis unless you’re an avid golfer.

Felt like I was at an amusement park.

It’s Somertime, Anytime with Somersby!

Somersby Malaysia held their campaign launch preview party at Glasshouse at Seputeh end of last month and I was lucky to be invited to party along!

I took the train from Ipoh in the morning at 9 am and reached KL Sentral at about 11.40 am. Shortly later, my friend came to pick me up. Spent a couple of hours at her house before we made a move to my first event. After that, we went straight to Glasshouse @ Seputeh.

Somersby is the bestselling cider in Malaysia according to National Key Retailers’ Scanned Data (Jan ’15- Aug ’16). It is a refreshing alcoholic drink made from real fruit juices and natural fruit flavoring. It is sweet and refreshing with no beer after-taste. Somersby Cider contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colorings.

Oh yeah, a week before the event, they mailed the invitation and to my surprise, a gift.

A MINIATURE KOMBI VAN!

Oh, my gosh, how cute is the miniature kombi van?? It is the cutest gift I’ve ever received. I love it so much.

Ahhh, Samyang pizza! Who doesn’t love the Samyang ramen, right? It’s notorious for its different kinds of heat. Not everyone could handle it. I’ve been happy when Domino’s Pizza Malaysia announced they’re doing a Korean type of pizza and name it ‘Samyang pizza!’.

Ok, correction. It’s spelled ‘#Samyeang‘.

Thank you to Domino’s Pizza for extending their invitation to me to join the blogger meetup and Samyeang pizza preview at the Ipoh Domino’s branch in Medan Ipoh Bestari.

It was my first time tasting the Samyeang pizza so I was really excited.

Get excited for the next K-wave by Domino’s Pizza!

What’s unique about their new Samyeang pizza is that they’re staying true to Korean pop music style.

Domino’s drew inspiration from Malaysians’ love for Korean food and culture. You know how much we love K-Pop (G-Dragon, I love you).

They introduced their own ‘boy band’, The Samyeangs, to emulate and represent the flavors and attributes of the pizzas.

Dolly Dim Sum‘s fifth and newest outlet has just opened at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya and I was lucky enough to be invited to join the grand opening celebration.

I made the trip from Ipoh to KL at 11 am and reached about 2.30 pm at Shah Alam to visit a relative. After that, I drove to IOI City Mall at 3.45 pm and reached about 4.20 pm. That’s not bad! I thought it would take longer than that but luckily the road was smooth with no traffic jams. I also didn’t miss any part of the event so I’m very happy about that.

This is Dolly’s fifth outlet. Diners are given a glimpse of Dolly’s world, a character depicted in each and every outlet. Dolly is traditional at heart, with a modern outlook. She’s an avid florist, a collector of beautiful things and of course, she loves dim sum!

At Dolly Dim Sum Sunway Putra outlet, you could enjoy dim sum in a luscious green setting of Dolly’s Garden. At Avenue-K, it is in a contemporary setting of an enclosed glass teahouse. The NU Sentral and Pavilion outlets are modeled after Dolly’s house and kitchen respectively.

I hope it’s still not too late to wish GONG XI FA CAI! Happy Chinese New Year to all my Chinese friends and readers. So, last week I had the opportunity to do “Loh Sang” with my media friends and staff at the Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.

The ‘Loh Sang’ For Prosperity was held at RakuXin restaurant. Normally I’d take the ETS train from Ipoh but this time I decided to drive. It’s the holiday season so obviously, all trains were fully booked. It’s been so long since I last drove to KL. First time driving to Shah Alam! Thank goodness for GPS, huh?

It was my first time at RakuXin Restaurant. My previous two reviews were at Melting Pot Cafe.

Last week, I was invited to sample the special limited menu from Nagano, Japan at Sou Omakase Dining located at The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

Sou Omakase Dining will be presenting the limited menu from Nagano, Japan at RM88 starting from January 9th, 2018 until the stock runs out. The ingredients are imported from Nagano, Japan, and are very limited. A set includes:

  • SAKIZUKE – New Year’s Mix Appetizer “OSECHI” Plate
  • Special Limited AZUMINO IKEDA Lunch Course
  • Desserts – Homemade Dessert of the Day with Japanese Tea
  • FREE GIFT – A glass of “KITA-ALPS” Daigynjyo sake & “MIZUHIKI” Pin or Key-Chain by E&A Works

Nagano Prefecture, located 2 hours away by train north of Tokyo, is an area with natural resources and beauty and is also famous for its ski resorts and hot springs. Ikeda Town is located in the north/western area of Nagano Prefecture and is well known for its rich agricultural heritage.

I took the ETS train from Ipoh at 7.25 am. Luckily I didn’t miss the train. Reached KL Sentral at about 10 am and straight away took the train to Midvalley Megamall. After the event, I walked around for a bit and took the train back to Ipoh at 4.25 pm. A short trip but it was worth it. I needed a short break.

It’s a bit tricky to get to SOU Omakase Dining. It’s located outside of The Gardens Mall, not inside. You have to take the Riverview center exit out of the mall then walk to your left towards the Gardens Residences/South Tower.

I wanted to post this sooner but unfortunately, I’ve been down with sickness for more than a week. Vertigo, severe migraine, and allergies. I think it’s the weather. It’s been way too hot and my body just couldn’t handle it.

Earlier, this month, I was invited to sample and review the Christmas & New Year buffet at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam. Yay, Christmas!

Check out my other reviews of Concorde Hotel Shah Alam:

Yep, I went all the way from Ipoh to Concorde Hotel Shah Alam. I needed a break anyway so it was an opportunity to leave my problems for a day. I was very lucky to get a seat on the ETS train. The morning train was fully booked. When I was buying the tickets, there were only 6 seats left. I completely forgot that it was a long weekend. Friday was a public holiday (Maulidur Rasul).

I reached KL Sentral at 10 am, waited for the KTM Komuter which arrived at 10.10 am or so, and reached Shah Alam station at about 10.45 am. Took an Uber and reached Concorde Hotel Shah Alam at about 11 am.

I was happy to see Christmas-themed foods because Christmas is one of my most fave holidays. I wish there were more, though. I wish they had honey-glazed turkey because it is so good. Would be nice to see some gingerbread man cookies too because I really love them. Every year I would buy gingerbread man cookies from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

But don’t worry, though. Gingerbread house will be available during the Christmas Eve buffet dinner.

I was happy to see the Christmas log! And I love the decoration as well. It’s so cute.

About a week ago, I went to Kuala Lumpur to attend the ‘Raya Kasih & Cinta‘ Buka Puasa CSR Initiative with the main casts of Hero Seorang Cinderella drama, Fattah Amin & Nur Fazura together with the children from Rumah Shifa Setapak and Rumah Bakti NurShaheera. The event was held at Quill City Mall Kuala Lumpur and the ‘buka puasa‘ event was held at the Japanese restaurant, Aragan Yokocho.

I saw Quill City Mall last month when I was heading to Premiera Hotel. I wanted to go there but I didn’t have time. Luckily, I was invited to their ‘Raya Kasih & Cinta‘ CSR event with Fattah Amin and Nur Fazura (from Hero Seorang Cinderella) and a ‘buka puasa‘ event afterward with them, the kids from the orphanage, and other media and invited guests.

Quill City Mall is located adjacent to the Medan Tuanku monorail station so it’s very convenient to get there. From KL Sentral, it takes about 30 minutes.

I’m not a fan of Fattah Amin but Fazura is gorgeous! And this time, both of them were wearing soft pink. Gorgeous to the max.
