Concorde Hotel Shah Alam will be having the ‘Citarasa 7 Kampung‘ as their Ramadhan Buffet 2017 theme this year comprising more than 100 dishes. They also had their annual Bubur Lambuk giveaway, a yearly event, on the day of the buffet preview where they distributed about 8,000 Bubur Lambuk packets.

Note: This month has got to be the busiest and the most challenging month ever for me. I’ve had so many things happening, going back and forth many times Ipoh-KL-Ipoh in a span of three weeks, dealing with personal issues, emergency cases, and so on. Please bear with me as I try to quickly post all reviews as soon as possible. 🙂

The Citarasa Tujuh Kampung Ramadhan Buffet 2017 preview was held at Melting Pot Cafe on the ground floor level of Concorde Hotel Shah Alam, next to their lobby.

I took the ETS from Ipoh and reached KL Sentral at about 10 am, then took the train straight to Shah Alam. Surprisingly, I reached Shah Alam earlier than I had estimated with about an hour to spare before the buffet preview started.

I took an Uber from the Shah Alam station and the hotel is not that far – roughly a 10 minutes ride. Since I had time to spare, I asked my Uber driver to drop me off at Plaza Shah Alam. The hotel is just across the road from the mall.

When I reached Melting Pot Cafe at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam, the place was still empty but just shortly after it was swarming with people.

The theme for this year’s Ramadhan buffet at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam is ‘Citarasa 7 Kampung‘. The menu comprises more than 100 dishes and the 7 dishes specialties are:-

  • Daging Masak Hitam from Kg Teluk Kumbar – Penang
  • Kuzi Ayam of Kg Kempas – Johor
  • Gulai Lemak Udang Galah with Belimbing Buluh from Kg Seri Menanti – N. Sembilan
  • Ayam Percik from Kg Pasir Mas – Kelantan
  • Hot & Sour Szechuan Soup from Kg Morten – Melaka
  • Ikan Talapia Masam Manis from Kg Sg Sembilang – Selangor
  • Rendang Daging from Kg Tanjung Malim – Perak

You can also look forward to the hotel’s signature dishes like Sup Gearbox and Bubur Lambuk. They not only have local Malay delicacies, but also international and other Asian delights.

You can check out the video at the end of this post that I captured during the day.

I’m not a fan of fish, and definitely not a fan of giant fish heads. This one fish head scares me. Haha.

One thing I love about this Ramadhan buffet preview at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam is that they put a lot of thought on the decorations. Like this mosque replica gracing the center of the plate surrounded by absolutely beautiful, colorful, and scrumptious-looking pieces of cake.

Their dessert section alone already made me a very happy gal that day. They had quite a number of desserts available to choose from, even chocolate fondue.

As I said, they’ve put a lot of thought into the decorations. They had what looks like a local tropical island theme as decoration for the main items section at the center. The only thing missing is a glass of my favorite virgin pina colada haha.

They had a variety of lemang – the traditional lemang, lemang pulut hitam, and the ones with corns. Then you eat it with some serunding daging or ayam (beef or chicken floss).

I super love this baked macaroni! Couldn’t get enough of this.

I seriously loved this mashed potato too! Like super love.

That’s why I went straight for the international section first.

Oh my gosh. The baked macaroni and mashed potato were so damn good that I had to have a second plate of them. The flavors of the food that I’ve tasted at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam were all so sinfully delicious.

Mm, then, of course, I had some beef and chicken satay with some nasi impit. One could never resist the satay.

I didn’t know they had this seafood soup. Someone brought it to the table and complimented how good it was. Of course, I wouldn’t want to miss the chance to taste it. It’s also one of my favorites when it comes to Chinese food.

My first plate of desserts. That red velvet cake is to-die-for. An absolute must for red velvet lovers like me. The eclairs, the cream puffs… and that bittersweet chocolate fondue with marshmallows and fruits. Sinfully delicious!

The main highlight was the ‘serawa durian’ with pulut. I have not tasted durian for a long time so I was extremely happy to see the ‘serawa durian’ there! I can’t even describe how good it was.

My second plate of desserts! More cream puffs, eclairs, some tarts, fruit cakes, and that mousse in a chocolate cup. Oh, I wish I had more of that.

I had the privilege to sample their Creme Brulee, one of my most favorite desserts before it was launched. It was sweet. but not overly sweet to me.

The only lacking was that it didn’t have much of the burnt sugar on top of it. You know how they put sugar on the custard and use a kitchen blowtorch to burn it? I would’ve preferred it with just a slightly more burnt sugar taste. Then it’ll be perfect. Some people might not like the burnt taste that much, though. To each their own. But it still tasted sinfully delicious with or without the burnt sugar.

And what else is better than finishing a good meal with a good cup of warm Cappuccino. They also gave some cookies to go with it and the cookies were super, super, super yummy! The only yummy cookie I had with a similar delicious taste was at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut Perak.

I received a gift bag from them containing lots of Adabi products. This is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received! Thank you very much! I also received two containers containing their bubur lambuk.

Their bubur lambuk was so friggin delicious. I’m normally not a huge bubur lambuk fan but after eating their bubur lambuk, I was left craving for more. I actually regret sharing my bubur lambuk with my family haha. They finished it before my very eyes.

The bubur lambuk had the right amount of spice, seasoning, and flavor to make the bubur lambuk’s taste absolutely perfect just the way I like it.

Right after the buffet, they had a free Bubur Lambuk giveaway event. I’ve separated a post where I covered the Bubur Lambuk event. Do click on the link below to continue reading about the Bubur Lambuk giveaway event.
