Ramadan is approaching soon. Many hotels and restaurants are already planning and previewing their Ramadan buffet spread. Pacific Regency Hotel Suites Kuala Lumpur invited me to their “Bazaar 33” Nusantara buffet preview.

Pacific Regency Hotel Suites will bring a delight to the whole family this May and June through its sumptuous Nusantara feast specially catered by the hotel’s culinary experts for its “Bazaar 33” buffet promotion.

The hotel is located at Jalan Punchak, the opposite of KL Tower.

If you’re using public transportation, take the monorail and stop at Bukit Nanas station. You have to do about 10-20 minutes of walking. The hotel is about 1km-ish from the station. It’s not that far, but if you’re unfit like me, it’ll be a struggle 😀

It’s also nearby Shangri-La Hotel. I’ve reviewed their international buffet spread at the new Lemon Garden before.

Getting Uber at night for that area is quite a pain. When I was at the Lemon Garden Re-Opening Party at Shangri-La, my Uber driver canceled on me after 20 minutes because he was stuck in a traffic jam.

At Pacific Regency Hotel Suites, my Uber driver canceled on me again after waiting 10 minutes. Luckily, on both occasions, I didn’t miss my 10.45 pm ETS train back to Ipoh. But I nearly had a panic attack both times. Thank goodness for the nearby monorail station.

I took the afternoon ETS from Ipoh. Reached in the afternoon. Relaxed for a bit at Nu Sentral before taking the monorail to Bukit Nanas station at about 5.50 pm. I arrived shortly before 7 pm, surprisingly, even after all that slow walk from the station.

That nice little green box contained dates (kurma).

For this year, the buffet spread will be on the 33rd level of Pacific Regency Hotel Suites, with a spectacular view of Kuala Lumpur city. You’ll dine in comfort with a cozy ambiance, overlooking the night city view.

The concept is like a ‘bazaar’ with booths for certain dishes surrounding the main dishes or ‘lauk pauk’ in the center. The desserts are in a different room.

Hence why it’s named “Bazaar 33”.

Sushi! For sushi lovers like me, I’m sure you’d be happy to see sushi would also be available for this buffet.

I just noticed during editing that they had funny names for each section.

Like for the pecal/pasembor part, they put “Lu-Gua Bikin Sendirila“.

Delicious satay Kajang, otak-otak, nasi impit, lemang, and more.

Mee Ceercelup…haha.

I had the laksa here, but it wasn’t that satisfying, unfortunately. My noodle was still quite chewy and tough. Should have let it boil a little longer.

Celup-Celup Sampai Ke Siku“… haha. Nice one.

All the fried and crispy stuff would be at this booth. They also had steamed seafood/fish here, if I’m not mistaken.

Aneka Kerabu Pak Mat Tempe“… haha, get it? Pak Mat Tempe? Who came up with this stuff? Haha. Loved it.

Kambing Masak Hitam.

This is a MUST TRY. It was so damn good.

Other highlights include Ayam Salai Masak Lemak Cili Api, Ikan Pari Asam Pedas, Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin, Labu Masak Lemak, and Sotong Lit Lit.

No buffet would be complete without roasted lamb.

But apart from lamb, they also had roasted venison. It was my first time tasting venison and it was actually very good. I’ve been missing out!

In a different room, there was a nice selection of desserts, my favorite! And they even had creme brulee. I LOVE creme brulee. There were a variety of cakes, puddings/jelly, and fresh fruits.

Of course, there are also some Malay ‘kuih’ for those who prefer traditional & local over western.

Cookies in the jar! They even had ‘dodol’ in the jar as well as a selection of popular kuih/cookies commonly served during Hari Raya or Eid celebration.

Too bad they didn’t have ‘durian dodol’. I’ve been craving that.

This is the first time I’ve seen a table full of topping selections for ‘Ais Kacang’. So many to choose from!

I didn’t eat much of the ‘savory’ dishes because I’m more into desserts.

But I really, really, REALLY loved the satay and the peanut sauce. This is the first and only buffet so far that serves peanut sauce with the chili separately. If you’re a fan of Satay Kajang Hj. Samuri, then you know what I’m talking about. Having the chili separated allows you to adjust the spiciness of your peanut sauce according to your taste. It is so much better.

The satay was really delicious. It’s very flavorful that you could just eat it on its own. Otak-otak was also my favorite. They nailed it on the taste.

Kambing Masak Hitam‘ was also the highlight of the night. It was so sinfully delicious that I went for a second. It was that good.

The event was hosted by Danny Zickry. He is best known for his achievement in 2011’s Asian Youth Voice in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has a nice voice and a cheerful personality that I was entertained by that night.

They had a special guest – Wawa who was a contestant in Akademi Fantasia 2014. I lost interest in Akademi Fantasia after season 3 so I haven’t heard of her until that night. She hasn’t been in the spotlight after leaving AF2014. Also, she has a new image now wearing hijab.

She has a nice voice, I really liked it.

Then Danny called out Fahmi Esmail who was in Mentor Legend 2014. He was with his blogger friends. Danny persuaded him to come up on stage and perform a song or two. I didn’t watch Mentor Legend 2014 so I had no idea who he was.

I liked his voice too.

Danny and Wawa came to our table and I have no idea why I didn’t ask to take a picture with them. Hmm.

I really enjoyed the buffet that night. Did not expect any entertainment but Danny, Wawa, and Fahmi managed to entertain the guests. I still can’t get over how delicious the satay/peanut sauce and Kambing Masak Hitam were.

“Bazaar 33” Nusantara buffet will be available daily from 6.30 pm to 10.00 pm from 29th May to 23rd June 2017.
